About Elaine
Growing up on a farm in the
foothills of the Canadian Rockies, I often pulled up a
chair at Granny's kitchen table. Sipping her strong
black tea from a delicate white porcelain cup, I would
sit mesmerized. From her vivid stories about growing up
in a small English village with thatched roofs to her
immigration to Western Canada where she was widowed and
left destitute 14 years later, I traveled through time
with her. That’s where my love and deep respect for
family history originated.
Perhaps that’s
also where my desire to write also took root. In my
30-year career in business communications and public
relations, I have written magazine articles, press
releases, annual reports, speeches, presentations,
brochures, books, websites and newspaper columns for
corporations, organizations and individuals.

A decade ago, I
opened Calla Communications, Inc. and work from the farm
in Central Texas where my husband, Emil, and I live.
These days, true to my roots, my passion is personal
history.
I put my heart
into writing about people’s lives because I believe that
every person has a unique story. But unless it is
faithfully recorded, an important link is lost, along
with the wisdom gleaned from a life well lived. Through
thoughtfully planned and executed one-on-one interviews,
as well as research that involves old photos, diaries,
newspapers, letters and documents, I can make your past
– or the life of a loved one - come alive for
generations to come.
Make the drama,
romance, heroism, faith, endurance, beauty of your life
live on.
I have the
experience, the compassion and the enthusiasm to create
a legacy of which you will be proud. Let me write your
personal history!
